Do you know of a fun pub I can go check out in Aldgate? – Alessandro, 26, via email.
My suggestion: The Hoop and Grapes (47 Aldgate High St, EC3N 1AL)
The Hoop and Grapes might sound pretty boring but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Did you know that the bar is 424 years years old and survived the Great Fire of London? What many people fail to see upon first glance, is that the Hoop and Grapes is filled with unique character thanks to their rustic furniture and fun-going atmosphere. The venue is also known for its eclectic range of ales and scrumptious food with huge servings (our favourite combination is their 14oz sirloin chop with mac & cheese). Check it out!
I’m looking for a new pub to try out in North London. Know a place that has potential?? – Jamaal, 31, via email.
My suggestion: Catcher in the Rye (317 Regents Park Rd, N3 1DP)
The Catcher is a lot of things, but being a phony is not one of them. With an irresistibly cosy interior and atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re hanging out at a friend’s house, delicious homemade food, and thirst-quenching beer, the Catcher is the perfect spot to go try out!
Hey Kev! In the lookout for a new place to try some new cocktails! Know a place? – Jess, 23, via email.
My suggestion: Casa Blue (120 Bethnal Green Rd, E2 6DG)
I’m always up for a challenge, Jess.
Casa Blue is a Italian-American bar that is known for serving excellent stone-baked, sourdough pizza. They also serve up some of the tastiest cocktails in east London. They serve some American classics such as daiquiris, blue lagoon, margarita but also have some standout Italian cocktails. These include their spectacular Negroni Bagliato which consists of gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth and according to Casa Blue was “allegedly invented in 1919 and named for Count Camillo” The cocktail is just so exciting that it makes you feel like you’re nervously awaiting approval from Don Corleone. It’s a cocktail that you can’t refuse.
